Buyer Steel Purchasing Agent

A Minster steel fabrication company has an opening for an experienced Buyer Steel Purchasing Agent @ $28-$35 per hour, based on experience. The Buyer/SPA  is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, purchasing, and procuring structural steel and related materials for large-scale construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Issuing purchase orders & monitoring order status
• Ensuring materials are available for project requirements, schedules, and budgets.
• Monthly and Year-End Inventory Control
• Supply Chain Management
• Source, evaluate, and select suppliers of structural steel and welding materials.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with vendors.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and production teams to align material orders with project timelines.
• Work with Quality Control team to ensure quality standards of materials meet specifications.

Requirements:

• Valid Driver’s License.
• Home Phone or Cell.
• Clean Background with No Felony Conviction.
• Your Own Transportation.
• Able to Pass an Employment Drug Screen.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, ie. Word, Excel, Outlook.
• Fabtrol fabrication management software experience.
• Powerfab/Tekla (structural steel bidding, inventory, and shop floor) software experience.
• Working knowledge of structural steel fab drawings and processes.
• Working knowledge of steel detailing processes, ASTM Standards, and AISC Purchasing Standards.
• Working knowledge of steel sizes and cost processes.
